Update: Maps are now available at the office of the Hamilton Farmers' Market (located at Jackson Square) in addition to Buttrum's Farm Market, Bentford Orchards and Williams Brothers. We've left maps to be distributed to all City Halls and Community Service locations. We also left copies of the map at the Royal Botanical Gardens after attending their Lilac Festival.
The demand for the 2008 maps is high! The Public Library has received another delivery of maps to be distributed through their branches. You can also find a map at: Ancaster Community Services & Information, The Ancaster Old Mill, The Westover General Store, East Hamilton Boys & Girls Club, the Ottawa Street BIA and the Stoney Creek Municipal Centre.
On Friday, May 23rd I delivered more copies to both Farmers' Markets as well. Ask your favourite local producer for one!

Mother's Day at the Market
Saturday, May 10th was another special day at the Ottawa Street Farmers' Market as the celebration of its official launch continued. Shoppers were treated to live music, a BBQ of Teal's Pure Pork sausages, a free draw and children's activities. In honour of Mother's Day, 250 flowers were handed out to the early-bird Moms at the market.
Hamilton Eat Local handed out our new map with plenty of people approaching us saying they came specifically for their copy.
A successful map launch
The map launch on May 9th was a great success as was the official launch of the new Ottawa Street Farmers' Market! The event was attended by the Mayor himself and City Councillors Merulla, Pasuta, and Morelli. Andrea Horwath, the MPP for Hamilton Centre was also in attendance and she gave the first remarks praising those involved with the successful relocation of the (former) Centre Mall Farmers' Market.
Here are a few pictures of the day's event:

New Map Launch!
Don't forget our new Buy Local! Buy Fresh! map is being unveiled this Friday, May 9th. We'll be launching our new and expanded map alongside the official opening of the Ottawa Street Farmers' Market. Check us out on Friday for the media event or Saturday when there will be special entertainment and activities for all with a Mother's Day theme!
Earth Day Hamilton
Hamilton Eat Local's new display, generously sponsored by Hamilton Economic Development, was enveiled at the Earth Day Hamilton's events during the week of April 22nd.
We attended both days of the school activities at the Royal Botanical Gardens. We quizzed the kids on where they think their food comes from and how far it might have travelled. It wasn't hard to convince them that taking a trip to a local farm would be fun.
I also went to the Tree Planting and Fun Run/Walk organized by Earth Day Hamilton. While the poor weather prediction kept some at home, the event was still well attended.
